Terms of Service

1. Who We Are

GateScout ("GateScout," "we," "us," or "our") is a registered business name operating in Ontario, Canada (Business Number: 790571178). We operate the flight price alert service available at gatescout.net.

By signing up for GateScout or using our website, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. What GateScout Does

GateScout monitors publicly available flight price data for economy routes departing from your chosen home airport. When prices drop by a percentage you specify, we send you an email alert. We do not sell flights, act as a travel agent, or guarantee any advertised price will be available when you attempt to book.

Price data comes from third-party sources. GateScout is a monitoring and notification service only. Prices are indicative and may change at any time. The existence of an alert does not guarantee seat availability, continued pricing, or that a booking can be completed at the alerted price.

3. Free and Pro Plans

GateScout offers two plan tiers:

• Free Plan: One alert digest per day (morning), 20% minimum drop threshold, up to 3 deals shown per email. No charge.
• Pro Plan ($5 CAD/month): Alerts up to 6 times per day, 10% minimum drop threshold, all qualifying deals shown, 30-day price baseline. Billed monthly via Stripe.

We reserve the right to adjust plan features or pricing with reasonable notice.

4. Payment and Cancellation

Pro plan subscriptions are billed monthly through Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize recurring monthly charges until you cancel. You may cancel at any time from your account dashboard or by emailing hello@gatescout.net. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No refunds are issued for partial months.

If a payment fails, your account will revert to the Free plan until payment is successfully processed.

5. Your Responsibilities

You agree to:

• Provide a valid, working email address
• Not use GateScout for any unlawful purpose or in a way that disrupts the service
• Not attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the platform

6. No Guarantee of Results

GateScout makes no warranty, express or implied, that:

• Any alerted price will be available when you attempt to book
• Price data is accurate, complete, or current at the time of delivery
• You will save money as a result of using the service
• The service will be uninterrupted or error-free

Flight pricing is volatile and controlled entirely by airlines and third-party booking platforms. GateScout aggregates and monitors publicly available data but has no control over it.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, GateScout's total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the three (3) months preceding the claim. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including missed travel opportunities or booking losses.

8. Intellectual Property

All content, design, and technology comprising GateScout is owned by GateScout and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce or redistribute any part of the service without written permission.

9. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may stop using GateScout and unsubscribe at any time via any alert email or by contacting us.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Ontario, Canada.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email to confirmed subscribers. Continued use of GateScout after changes constitutes acceptance.

Privacy Policy

GateScout is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable Ontario privacy legislation. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how it is handled.

1. Information We Collect

When you sign up for GateScout, we collect:

• Email address — to send flight alerts and service notifications
• Home airport (IATA code and name) — to determine which routes to monitor
• Alert threshold — the percentage drop that triggers your alert
• Excluded regions (optional) — geographic regions you want filtered out
• Daily digest preference — whether you want a daily summary email
• Subscription status and plan — whether you are on Free or Pro
• Stripe customer ID (Pro subscribers only) — to manage your billing relationship

We do not collect your name, phone number, mailing address, or payment card details. Card data is handled entirely by Stripe.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To deliver flight price alerts and daily digest emails you subscribed to
• To confirm your subscription and manage your account
• To process Pro plan payments via Stripe
• To send service notifications (e.g., plan changes, important updates)
• To improve the reliability and accuracy of our price monitoring

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties.

3. Third-Party Service Providers

We share limited data with the following processors, solely to operate the service:

• Resend — email delivery. Receives your email address and email content.
• Stripe — payment processing (Pro plan). Receives your email and billing details. Governed by Stripe's own privacy policy.
• Supabase — database hosting (Canada/US region). Stores your subscriber record.
• SerpApi — flight price data. Does not receive your personal data; used to fetch publicly available pricing.
• Duffel — airport name lookup for the signup form. Receives only the airport search query, not your personal data.
• Travelpayouts — affiliate booking links in alert emails. If you click a "Book now" link and complete a purchase, Travelpayouts may log that booking for commission purposes under their own privacy policy.

4. Data Retention

Your subscriber record is retained while your account is active. If you unsubscribe (via email link or by contacting us), your record is deleted within 30 days. Price snapshot data is anonymised (no personal data attached) and retained for up to 90 days to power price baselines.

5. Your Rights Under PIPEDA

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct any inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your data (unsubscribe via any alert email, or email hello@gatescout.net)
• Withdraw consent to receiving alerts at any time

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@gatescout.net. We will respond within 30 days.

6. Cookies

GateScout does not use tracking cookies or analytics cookies on our website. Your light/dark theme preference is saved in your browser's localStorage only — it is never sent to our servers. Stripe may set cookies during the checkout process; these are governed by Stripe's privacy policy.

7. Security

Your data is stored in an encrypted Supabase database. Access is restricted to GateScout's backend services using secure API keys. We do not store payment card details — all payment data is handled by Stripe's PCI-compliant infrastructure.

8. Children

GateScout is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will notify confirmed subscribers by email before the changes take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any revisions.
